On 4 February 2014, I discovered this small hornet nest in the bush when I was led by a lone hornet flying into the bush. The hornet disappeared before I saw the nest. As there was not hornet on the nest, I could not tell the exact owner of this nest and I was not prepared to risk my safety to find out. But from the look of the nest, it had to be a hornet nest.

Eleven days later on 15 February 2014, I come by the same location and decided to check out the hornet nest again. It was still there but no sign of hornet. As I was trying to squeeze my camera into the small opening of the tall bush which was lined with thorny Sea Holly (Acanthus ebracteatus) to get some good pictures, hornets started to exit from the nest opening. I must have created some movement in the bush that alerted the hornet. Fortunately, they just move around on the nest. As the view of the nest was not good due to the blockage of the think bush, I could not get any good picture since I was mindful that these were hornets.
